Stacey Gambrell Hunt, MD, FAAD
Dermatology
Dr. Stacey Gambrell Hunt is the current president of Sinkler-Miller Medical Association and is a Dermatologist. She is a native of Detroit, Michigan and has lived in the Bay Area for over 2 decades. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Literature, Sciences and Art school and Doctor of Medicine from the Medical school. She then attended New York University where she completed her residency training in Dermatology at the Charles Harris Skin and Cancer Unit. And most recently she completed a Graduate Business Certificate from Stanford Business School. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association—Minority Section, Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association, Sinkler-Miller Medical Association, and National Medical Association. She has been active in her community and held numerous leadership roles with Piedmont Appreciating Diversity, Jack and Jill of America, and Piedmont Parent Club.
She is a partner with The Permanente Medical Group where she has practiced Dermatology since 2002. She implemented the Skin of Color Clinic in the Diablo Service Area (DSA) and is currently the Regional Medical Director for the Skin of Color Clinic. She is passionate about social justice and addressing disparities in healthcare. In addition to her clinic practice, she is the Regional Medical Director for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for Medical Specialties where she guides equity initiatives to be embedded within these service lines.

Ardis C. Martin, MD
Psychiatry
Dr. Ardis C. Martin is currently the Vice-President of Sinkler-Miller Medical Association. She is a board certified child, adolescent, and adult Psychiatrist in private practice in Walnut Creek. She’s held previous positions as secretary and member-at-large. Dr. Martin enjoys writing and lecturing about cultural competency, the use of music, poetry, art, literature, and film to teach about cultural issues in psychiatry, the role that the arts can play in treating children and adolescents, as well as the role of nutrition in psychiatric health.’
Collin Smikle, MD
Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology
Dr. Collin Smikle is currently the treasurer for Sinkler-Miller Medical Association. He is the founder and Medical Director of Laurel Fertility Care. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology and infertility, he has extensive experience in IVF, all assisted reproductive technologies and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is a highly respected physician, researcher, teacher and medical author.
He graduated from Yale Medical School and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He received specialty training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of California San Francisco where he did extensive research in oocyte and follicular development and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Dr. Smikle has authored over 25 medical publications, book chapters, and abstracts. In addition to Sinkler Miller Medical Association, he is a member of American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Bay Area Reproductive Endocrinologists Society, and the San Francisco Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
Dawud Lankford MD, MPH, FACS
Urology
Dr. Dawud Lankford is currently the secretary for the Sinkler-Miller Medical Association. He is a Oakland and Walnut Creek based urologist, specializing in urologic oncology and treatments for benign prostate enlargement.
He grew up in the Bay Area and attended the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in molecular and cellular biology. He earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN with a dual Master’s Degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. His Master’s thesis was an investigational study that assessed the factors contributing to patient satisfaction and surgical outcome measures using standardized surveys. He completed his residency in Urology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY which included a core rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He completed a clinical research fellowship in urologic oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD contributing to breakthrough research in genitourinary cancer treatments. Lastly, he completed an endourology and robotics fellowship at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, where he was trained in all forms of minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of urologic disease.
Dr. Lankford has a special interest in optimizing men’s health with a holistic view on health and wellness, patient satisfaction, exercise, and lifestyle changes which may influence positive outcomes after surgical procedures. His practice focuses on Men’s Health and wellness, penile prosthetics, treatments for prostate enlargement and treatments for prostate cancer.
Cynthia Carbin MD, MPH
Adult and Family Medicine
Dr. Cynthia Carbin is currently a member at large on the Sinkler-Miller Medical Association board. She is a board-certified family physician who has been practicing in Northern California for almost two decades. Originally from the Bay Area, she graduated from college at Yale University and medical school at Meharry Medical College. She also obtained advanced training in public health. After completing her family medicine residency in Miami, Florida at Jackson Memorial Hospital, she returned to California where she has provided primary care to underserved communities. She has also worked extensively with global health initiatives in over a dozen countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Derrick Taylor, MD
General Surgery
Dr. Derrick Taylor is a distinguished figure in the medical field, recognized for his
exemplary contributions to healthcare and patient advocacy. Graduating from John
Hopkins University for his undergraduate degree, he furthered his education at Boston
University School of Medicine. Dr. Taylor’s journey led him to St. Luke’s Roosevelt
Colombia, where he completed his General Surgery residency, showcasing his
dedication to surgical excellence. His career trajectory ascended swiftly as he assumed
leadership roles, serving as the Chief of Surgery at TPMG (The Permanente Medical
Group) and Chair of the Credentials Committee. Through his leadership, Dr. Taylor has
fostered innovation, upheld high standards of care, and spearheaded initiatives to
enhance patient outcomes, leaving an indelible mark on the medical community.
Joy Foster, MD
Radiology
Dr. Joy Foster is currently a member at large on the Sinkler-Miller Medical Association Board. She is a native of Los Angeles California and is a board-certified, fellowship trained diagnostic radiologist with over 35 years of experience practicing in Concord, California.
She has been a self-employed diagnostic radiologist for 14 years. Her professional experience also includes being the medical director of an outpatient imaging center and
working closely with team physicians for the Oakland Raiders as well as the Golden State Warriors.
She served as president of Sinkler Miller Medical Association from 2015-2019.
Leon F. Richmond, MD
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Leon Richmond is proud to be currently on the Sinkler-Miller Medical Association board serving as a member at large. He is a retired obstetrician-gynecologist. He completed his undergraduate studies at Howard University and earned his medical degree from University of California-San Francisco. He practiced medicine in the Oakland community for many years and delivered many babies.
